Pediatric dental care has always been an important part of our practice. It is gratifying (and not unusual) to find ourselves treating three generations of the same family! Dr. Auffinger and his staff are committed to providing quality dental services to children of all ages while minimizing stress and discomfort at all times. Our office is truly kid-friendly with a cheerful and comfortable waiting room stocked with books, puzzles, and art supplies. In our operatories Dr. Auffinger has implemented tools such as chair-side videos, the Wand® local anesthesia delivery system, and the Kinetic Cavity Preparation system (KCP).
Recently the medical and dental communities have publicized oral health initiatives which advocate dental check-ups at an earlier age. Along with the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Auffinger recommends that all children receive their first dental evaluation six months after the eruption of their first tooth or no later than age one. This early visit allows Dr. Auffinger and the hygienists to assess the risk of decay, promote good oral habits, and provide or reinforce instructions for proper care at home. In this way we lay the foundation for a “dental home” and create a partnership with the family.
